The Brasso name has been synonymous with quality vehicles and reputable service since 1938 when Peter Brasso, a young Danish immigrant, opened Brasso Motors in downtown Calgary. Peter sold his business and retired to Vancouver in 1953, but his two sons had grown up on the car lot and it was only natural that they turned towards the car business themselves.
Henning opened a dealership in Vancouver in 1966 (and went on to own one of Canada's most successful Honda franchises, Richmond Honda). Younger brother Einar continued the tradition in 1969 by acquiring a Datsun franchise in Calgary.
Brasso Datsun spent its first two decades as a landmark on Macleod Trail... long-time Calgarians will remember the Brasso Datsun chuckwagon, and the "Datsun Diary/Import Report" column Einar ran in the TV Times each week. The dealership became Brasso Nissan and moved to its current location in the Calgary Auto Mall in 1990.
The Brasso family continues to own and operate Brasso Nissan and have built a thriving, sustainable company by employing superb people, offering great value and following ethical business practices. Over the years, this approach has helped the dealership sell tens of thousands of vehicles and develop a loyal customer base for sales and service. Brasso Nissan has received dozens of awards and recognition throughout the decades; we are particularly proud of our recent Ethics Award from the Better Business Bureau.
